You can find answers to all questions relating to course content here.

You decide when to start and finish your course. Our online courses are completely self-paced so you get to work at your own pace and in your own time. 

Once enrolled, you get access to the course content for life. Yes, that means you only pay once. We don’t really understand those courses where you’ll only get limited time access to your course materials. We’re here because we genuinely want to help you along in your learning journey, so lifetime access it is. You will also receive any future updates to that course, automatically and free of charge. 

The courses are delivered via three types of content: 

  • Downloadable PDFs
    Extremely detailed documents in which EVERYTHING can be found from background information to recipes, step-by-step methods, pictorials, charts, tips & tricks etc. These are your course bibles.

  • Instructional videos
    Straight to the point instructional videos with on-screen texts used to illustrate a particular technique. No talking to the camera here as we want to deliver the messages as efficiently as possible.

  • Supplementary videos
    Additional videos in which the instructor speaks to the camera to expand on useful tips and tricks.

The recipes list ingredients both in grams and ounces. We don’t use cup measurements as they are not suitable for scaling recipes due to their inconsistent nature. 

We use common ingredients that are widely available in most countries. Some of them are: 

Eggs

Caster sugar (also known as baker’s sugar or superfine sugar)

Thickened cream (35% milk fat cream, also known as heavy creaming, whipping cream or pouring cream)

Flour + Baking powder

Unsalted butter

Cocoa powder

Chocolate

Yes, absolutely! All of our courses are designed with complete beginners in mind so they are perfect for you. The efficient processes and recipes mean that you won’t waste any time making avoidable mistakes. 

Due to the detailed nature of the courses, even seasoned makers will learn a thing or two (most likely more) from them. Efficiency is at the core of our teachings so, besides the simple and delicious recipes you will benefit from learning how to work smarter, not harder.

The short answer is no, you can’t. 

The long answer is no you can’t because it is so much more than just recipes. Yes, our recipes are simple and delicious. However, there are plenty of simple and delicious recipes that you can find for free on the internet. The recipes are only a very small component in a  much more comprehensive system that is designed to be efficient as a whole. Our courses contain a wealth of information, recipes, methods, processes and insider tips and tricks that you cannot find anywhere else.

For sure, the recipes will elevate your cake game. But the whole course will elevate your cake LIFE!

Yes, a digital certificate is automatically issued upon the completion of all online courses.

For investment courses such as Buttercream Cake Mastery or The Versatile Baker, you have the option to request a physical certificate in the mail as well as a digital DTC Certified website badge.

Enrolment Process

Our online school is hosted on Teachable. 

Once you’ve acquired a good understanding of the course’s description and are ready to enroll, just click away at a ‘Enroll in Course’ button on the course page and follow the checkout process to complete your purchase.

For existing students with a Teachable account:

  • Please ensure that you use the email address attached to that account at checkout. If you use a different email address, a new account will be created. Once this occurs, we cannot merge your accounts together.
  • Log into your Teachable account here. Your new course will be accessible via the ‘My Courses’ section 
  • Please allow up to 15 minutes for this process to complete.

 

For new students:

  • A new Teachable account will be automatically created for you using the email address you provide at checkout. 
  • You will receive two emails – one to confirm your email for the new account and set a password; another with a link to ‘Access Course’.
  • You will not be able to access your course until you have confirmed your email for the new account. 
  • Please allow up to 15 minutes for this process to complete. 

For existing students with a Teachable account:

Please log into your Teachable account here. Your new course should be accessible via the ‘My Courses’ section. Please allow up to 15 minutes for the enrolment process to complete. 

 

For new students:

Please allow for up to 15 minutes for the enrolment process to complete. If you still haven’t received a confirmation email, please check that you are monitoring the correct email which should be the one you used at checkout. Please also check your Junk/Spam folder. 

If these all check out and your confirmation email is still nowhere to be seen, please email classes@donttellcharles.com.au for support and quote your full name and order number (if known).

Login Issues

To find out the email address attached to your account, please review your order confirmation email. This should list the email address you used at checkout which is your username. 

You can reset your password by clicking on the ‘Forgot Password’ button on the Login page. Alternatively, you can reset your password here.

It is likely that you have multiple accounts and the course you purchased is linked to another email address. To check which email address the course is linked to, please review your order confirmation email. This should list the email address you used at checkout which is the email address that the course is linked to.

Please email classes@donttellcharles.com.au with your full name, details of all the email accounts you own and a request to move all courses to a nominated account. 

The course content can be accessed from any smart device however, in order to ensure the best user experience, please view the courses on a tablet or desktop. Save the phone for when you need quick access only. 

Payment

You can use this currency converter to check current foreign exchange rates and find out how much your course will cost in real time. 

Payment plan options are available for investment courses. To view the payment plan options for each course, click on the course from here

Payment plan options are not available for mini courses. 

You will be given the option to choose a payment plan while on the course listing. To view our courses, click here.

If you are having financial difficulties and are expecting to miss an upcoming payment, please send us an email at classes@donttellcharles.com.au. Please provide your full name, email address attached to your school account, order number and details of your situation. We will endeavour to help you the best we can and work out a suitable plan together.

Community & Support

You can send a request to join from your personal Facebook account here. Please note that business pages are not accepted. 

Please make sure you answer all membership questions in order for your request to be approved. If your Facebook name is different to the name used to purchase a course, please make sure you also provide the correct name. 

If the membership questions are not answered or your Facebook name does not match any names on our student database, your request will not be accepted. 

Please keep in mind that our office hours are Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm AEST. If your request is sent on the weekend, it will be processed the next business day. 

The first and best place to start is the comment sections within the course itself. Post your question as a comment and Thao will answer them directly there. Course comments are checked on a weekly basis.

There is nothing we love more than seeing students’ work and progress. There are a number of platforms where you can share your work with the DTC community. 

Instagram:

Post a story, photo, reel or IGTV to your Instagram. Be sure to tag @donttellcharles and use the hashtag #DTCstudent so we can see them and repost. 

Facebook Student Group:

Share a post in the group and include your Instagram handle if you’d like us to share your work to our Instagram community. 

Email

You can send us an email with photos of your work for feedback to classes@donttellcharles.com.au. If you’d like us to share your work to our community, please make sure to let us know in the email. 

YES! We love to receive feedback from our students as this is how we continually grow and improve. To leave a review on a course you have completed:

Due to the uncertainty of Covid-19 climates, we have decided to pause in-person workshops until further notice. Sign up to our mailing list to be notified when we do have news regarding this subject.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take on custom cake orders at this time. If you are looking for a cake designer in Melbourne, we recommend Miss Lady Bird Cakes or Sweet Samantha Cake Designs

You have two options

  1. Purchase a gift card for any amount.
  2. Purchase a course in the recipient’s name by entering their full name and email address at checkout.

 

Some notes if you choose option 2

  • A confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided at checkout within 15 minutes of a purchase. Therefore, this option is only suitable if you’re happy for the recipient to receive their gift straight away. If not, we recommend purchasing a gift card instead. 
  • If the recipient already has an online school account with us, please use that email address at checkout. This way, the new course will be added to their existing account. 
  • If you don’t know whether the recipient already has an online school account with us, we recommend purchasing a gift card instead.
